WHAT NIMBUSWOOL IS

Nimbuswool™ is our name for the ultrafine merino we knit our rollnecks and polos from. Fibre diameter is what separates soft wool from the wool people remember itching as children, and ours sits at the fine end of the merino range. It is not a new fibre and we will not pretend it is — it is a specification we hold to, and a name so you can ask for it again.

WARMTH WITHOUT WEIGHT

Fine fibres trap more air per gram than coarse ones. That is the whole mechanism. A Nimbuswool™ rollneck gives you the warmth of a knit twice its weight while still fitting under a blazer without a ridge at the shoulder. It also regulates: wool moves moisture as vapour, so it stays comfortable across a range most synthetics cannot cover.

BUILT TO HOLD ITS SHAPE

Collars and cuffs are where knitwear fails first. Ours are knitted in one piece with the body rather than sewn on, and the ribbing is worked at a tighter gauge than the panel it joins. The collar holds its roll, the cuffs stay closed, and the hem does not flare after the third wash.

WHY ULTRAFINE MERINO, NOT LAMBSWOOL?

Lambswool is warmer per gram and considerably cheaper, which is why it fills most knitwear at this price. It is also thicker, itchier against bare skin, and it pills. Ultrafine merino costs more per kilo and knits slower, but it can be worn directly against the body, layered without bulk, and kept for years without the surface going fuzzy. If a jumper only ever goes over a shirt, lambswool is fine. Ours is made to be worn on its own.
